About Wordwood

A wooded place, nooks and balds, earth cool or sun warm.

Finding lost, forgetting past, sensing others’, scribbling and shaping – words.

Wordwood is an approximately 40 acre bush block that Pete and I (Margie) bought in September 2011.

It is on the Toowoomba Range just south of Crows Nest. It backs onto Perseverance Creek, is surrounded by other bush properties, and almost adjoins Crows Nest National Park.

We are managing most of it as a Land For Wildlife property (for more information see the tab and links by that name in this website).

It is our weekend retreat for now, and we hope to retire up there before we are too old to still walk around it!

The name was inspired by two loves we share – being in the bush and reading.

In other tabs under ‘About Wordwood’ we have included some history of the property and some of our favourite places in the surrounding area.
